Three Days on the Haute Route
Three days of ice, altitude and silence between Chamonix and Zermatt.
On the third morning the ice creaked under our crampons and the air was so thin that every step demanded attention. We walked in silence, watching the light climb the ridges.
There is no hurry on this crossing: the mountain sets the pace, and the best you can do is listen to it.
